The event
What the room explored
The September gathering began at the edge, where connected cars, factories, telecom towers, point-of-sale systems, and IoT devices introduce constraints that conventional Kafka deployments were not designed around. The session examined deployment models, protocols, codecs, and security through that operating environment.
The next two talks focused on visibility. Confluent demonstrated how KIP-714 client metrics complement broker monitoring, while New Relic connected Kafka with OpenTelemetry to diagnose bottlenecks and scale event-driven systems through burst load.
